Obituary of Ethel J. Poremba

Ethel J. Poremba, 84, of Dartmouth Street, passed away peacefully Thursday evening at St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Amsterdam on January 16th, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Ursula Tambasco Dandreano. A lifelong resident, she attended local schools. Ethel was employed as a sewing machine operator for Rose Snell Gloves and later for Breton Industries before retiring in 1993. A lifelong parishioner of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church, she was a member of the Santa Sofia Society. Ethel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who loved cooking and shared her treats with her family. Her beloved husband Frank Poremba predeceased her on January 31, 1992. Her loving family includes her son John Poremba Sr. of Amsterdam; Grandchildren; Aimee Poremba and her companion Eric Maryzak of Clifton Park, and John Poremba Jr. and his wife Erica of Amsterdam; brother Vito and his wife Sarah Dandreano of Amsterdam; sister Nellie and her husband Tony Aragona of Schenectady; nieces and nephews and cousins. Services are Monday at 8:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Fr. Pascal A. Iannotti, celebrant. Calling hours are Sunday from 3-5 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to St. Michael's Church Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
