Obituary of Frank T. Guiffre

Frank T. Guiffre, Sr. 89, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, November 29, 2007 at the E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam, NY Born in Amsterdam on July 23, 1918 a son of Anthony and Angelina Mirabito Guiffre. He was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended Amsterdam Schools. Mr. Guiffre worked for over 22 years as an Automobile Mechanic at the former Miller Motors Co. in Amsterdam. He later worked for over 25 years at the former Hosner Motor Car Co. also in Amsterdam before retiring in the early 1980?s. Working on cars was Frank?s passion in life. He enjoyed helping his son Frank Jr. maintain his stock car that he raced for over 20 years at Fonda Speedway. He was a regular at the Speedway every Saturday night. He began his love for racing when he started building and racing go- karts. Mr. Guiffre also enjoyed playing Bocce and was an avid Yankees Fan. He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Church and a member of the St. Michael?s Seniors. He married his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Crisalli Guiffre on September 1, 1940. In addition to his wife survivors include his son Frank T. Guiffre Jr. and his wife Dawn of Amsterdam, NY. Two brothers, Joseph Guiffre Connie of Tribes Hill, NY, Thomas Guiffre of Tribes Hill, NY. Two sisters, Mary Marrone of Amsterdam, NY and Lena Lopes of Saratoga, NY. Six Grandchildren, Laurie Gilston Jared, Frank Guiffre III, Monica PollockDan, Ron Klock, Shawna Garber, Donna Abbattisti Greg. Seven Great-Grandchildren, Jared Gilston Jr., Tommy Riker, Joshua Klock, Ron Klock III, Rachel Garber, Kayla Abbattisti and Caleb Pollock. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Frank was predeceased by a brother Anthony Guiffre on March 9, 2006. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 1, 2007 at 10:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove St., Amsterdam with Father Pascal Iannotti as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael?s Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday November 30th, 2007 from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. at the funeral home.
