Obituary of Edward A. Neznek

Edward A. Neznek 81, of Sulphur Springs Road, passed away Sunday evening at St. Mary?s Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Amsterdam on Dec. 23, 1925, he was the last surviving child of Thomas and Mary Jaworski Neznek. Educated locally, he worked for a time for the General Electric Company and later as a machinist for the Fultonville Machine And Tool Shop until he retired. Ed was a member and past president of the Florida Volunteer Fire Department for over fifty years. He was also a member of the Mohawk Valley Wood Carvers. Ed especially enjoyed his winter home in Zephyrhills Florida and his summer camp ?Club Ed? in Chateaugay Lake, NY. He was a parishioner of St. Margaret Of Cortona Roman Catholic Church in Rotterdam Jct. He was united in marriage to the former Aleeta Brusoe on April 21, 1945. She predeceased him on June 23, 2001 after fifty five years of marriage. Survivors include his children; Robert Susan Neznek of Alabama; Edward Neznek of Amsterdam; M. Jean William Farry of Delanson; and Richard Neznek of Ft. Meyers , Fla.; grandchildren, Kevin Heather Neznek, Karen Joe Lambert, Paul Farry and Leigh Anne Farry; great grandchildren, Hannah and Sophie Neznek and Moorea Lambert; nieces, nephews and cousins. Ed was predeceased by his siblings, Thomas, John, Albert, William, Paul, Chester and Frances Neznek, and Mary Ozug. Services are Thursday morning at 9:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Fr. Dennis Murphy officiating. Interment is in the Chuctanunda Cemetery, Minaville. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Ed?s memory to St. Mary?s Hospital Foundation, Town Of Florida Volunteer Fire Dept. or the Alzheimer?s Disease Association all in care of the funeral home office.
