Obituary of Jennie Tremante Balzano

Mrs. Jennie Tremante Balzano, age 94, formerly of Gloversville, died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Glastonbury Health Care Center, Glastonbury, CT. Jennie was born December 22, 1912 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Paul and Vincenza Savarese Tremante. A graduate of Gloversville High School, she later worked as office manager at G. Balzano and Sons Inc; also at the former Decca Records and MCA Record Company, and retired from Jackson and Warner Insurance Company at the age of 79. Jennie has resided in Glastonbury since 1993. She was a very faithful member of Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Gloversville, where she also served as Eucharistic Minister. She was a very active volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Jennie loved sewing, knitting and gardening. Jennie was married to Ralph Balzano on June 27, 1936. Mr. Balzano died September 16, 1971. She is survived by a daughter, Martha B. Kuzmeski of Manchester, CT; a son, Robert R. Balzano Deborah H. of Prescott, AZ; six grandchildren, Karen Bardwell, Steven Kuzmeski, Carolyn Kuzmeski, Pamela Hosek, Michael Balzano and Lynn Balzano; 13 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Louis Tremante, and her sister, Theresa M. Laurence. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 pm Sunday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Monday at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville. The Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimers Assoc; 85 Watervliet Ave; Albany, NY 12206-2083.
