Obituary of Frances R. Thompson

Mrs. Frances R. Thompson passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Sharon, Schoharie County on October 9, 1920. She was the adopted daughter of Harold E. and Bertha Trevett Rosselle of Gloversville. She was educated at Gloversville schools and graduated from Gloversville High School in 1939. She also was 1943 graduate of Russell Sage College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She became a Registered Nurse working at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, and then worked as a school-nurse teacher for the Greater Johnstown School District, retiring in 1979. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers, the Russell Sage College Alumnae Association, the Cayadutta Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the North Main St. United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Cherrio class and the United Methodist Women. She was married to George ?Jigger? Thompson on April 13, 1944 in Gloversville. He passed away on December 22, 2001. Survivors include one daughter, Mary James McKearney of Newington, Connecticut; three sons, George H. and Jon Sharron of Gloversville and Paul Susan of Johnstown; grandchildren Eric, Keith Natasha, Jodie, Sean Holly, Shane, Joshua and Brandon Thompson, Scott and Kevin McKearney, Kevin Kellie Barclay, and Paul and Cassandra DeRocker; great-grandchildren Kayla, Felicity, Jackson and Marissa Thompson, Landon DeRocker, and Kelsey, Alex and Karley Barclay. She is also survived by a brother, William T. Rosselle of Saquoit, New York and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday, October 15th at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be conducted at 10 am Tuesday with The Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Main Street United Methodist Church, 316 N. Main St; Gloversville, or to the charity of your choice.
