Obituary of Catherine A. Weakley

Catherine A. Weakley, 92, of Log City Road, passed away Monday evening at the Mount Loretto Nursing Home. Born in Drifton, Pa. on May 21, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Aniello and Felicia Montuoro Martuscello and moved to Amsterdam at an early age. Catherine was a graduate of the former Amsterdam School Of Commerce. She was employed as a steno-typist at the former George H. Maus Office, as well as the Amsterdam Printing Company. Catherine was also a co-owner of the former Califano Food Market until it was sold in 1976. In 1937 she married Ralph A. Califano who passed away on December 4, 1994. She later married Ernest M. Weakley who survives. Catherine wwas a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman catholic Church and the former St. Joseph?s Rosary Society as an honorary life member. In addition to her husband she is survived by her son, Arthur R. Califano of Suffern, NY, her daughter, Eileen M. Garber of Latham; two wonderful daughters in law, Christine and Edwina Califano; a son in law, Harry Garber; a step daughter, Shirley and her husband Angelo Ferlazzo of Amsterdam; step-sons; Ronald and his wife Jean Weakley of Charlton, and Ernest and his wife Bonnie Weakley of Amsterdam; seven grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by eight brothers, three sisters as well as her son, Anthony J. Califano of Naperville, Ill. Services are Friday at 8:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at St. Michael The Archangel Church.Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant . Interment will follow in St. Michael?s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-6 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to a charity of one? choice.
