Obituary of Margaret Jane Trevett

Margaret Jane Sweet Trevett, age 95, left this earth on September 18, 2007 at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility. She was born November 5, 1911 at Sweets Crossing in Northampton, New York to Isaac and Margaret Raub Sweet. She lived most of her life on Main Street in Mayfield, NY and was a resident of Hillcrest Manor for several years. Margaret was married for 48 years to John W. Trevett, who predeceased her in 1979. Also predeceasing her were her 14 siblings; Margaret having been the fifteenth and youngest.Margaret attended school at Cranberry Creek. She was employed for over 50 years by various glove shops, notably Hollenbeck and Grandoe. She was very proud of her special ability to do ?osan? a whip stitch on gloves. A life-long and active member of the Mayfield Presbyterian Church, Margaret?s pies for church bake sales were so popular that they usually sold before she?d made them. She was a past member of the Mayfield Firemen?s Auxiliary.Known to walk several miles per day, Margaret took first place honors in the Friehofer?s Run-Walk for Women at the age of 84. She often laughed about the fact that she won because she was the only person in her age category to actually cross the finish line.A generous, loving and feisty lady, Margaret was loved by many. She has been survived by her only child, Loretta Barney Garry; grandchildren, Arlene Renee Carr David and Gregory Barney; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Trevett Carr and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be greatly missed.A Memorial Service will be conducted by the Reverend Bonnie Orth at the Mayfield Presbyterian Church, 22 North Main Street, Mayfield, NY 12117 at 11am on Saturday, September 22, 2007.Urn burial will follow at Mayfield Cemetery.Memorial contributions can be made to SOCKS Save Our Cats, Kittens and Strays, P.O.
