Obituary of Frank M. Del Costello

Mr. Frank M. Del Costello, Jr; age 80, of Gloversville, died Saturday, September, 15, 2007 at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility, Gloversville. He was born on August 20, 1927 in Amsterdam, the son of the late Frank and Rose Anelli Del Costello. He served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater of Operations from 1945 to 1946. A lifetime Federal Government employee, following the war Frank worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Albany. He later became employed at the Naval Depot in Scotia and also in Philadelphia, and returned to be a guard at the Army Depot. He retired from the US Postal Service following 27 years of service in Gloversville. Mr. Del Costello was a member of Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Church. He was an avid New York Yankee fan. He also enjoyed playing Bocci Ball with his family and friends, and was a well-known prangster and jokester. Most of all, he was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Frank is survived by his wife of 56 years, Josephine Vietri Del Costello, whom he married on September 9, 1951. Also surviving are two children, Kathy Del Costello and Michael Del Costello Debra of Gloversville; two granddaughters, Abby Del Costello and Natalie Del Costello; several cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Del Costello, who was killed in action on a US Navy Ship. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 pm Monday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville, with the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility, 847 Co. Hwy. 122, Gloversville, NY 12078
