Obituary of Joaquin Pagan

Joaquin Pagan Sr., 58, of Eagle St. Amsterdam, passed away Wednesday September 12, 2007 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on August 20, 1949 a son of Francisco and Veronica Santiago Pagan. He attended local schools in Puerto Rico. He worked for a time in the Restaurant Business on Long Island. He resided for 18 years in the Bronx, NY and later for 6 years in Queens, NY. He then moved to Amsterdam, NY where he has resided since. Mr. Pagan enjoyed being in the garden and taking care of his vegetables, flowers and plants. He loved playing lotto and enjoyed beer. He especially loved to play practical jokes on his family of whom he loved very much. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith. He married Antonia Torres Pagan on January 5, 1970. In addition to his wife, survivor?s include, Three sons, Joaquin Pagan Jr. and his wife Mildred of Bronx, NY, Jose A. Pagan and his wife Angela of Gloversville, NY and Rimundo Pagan and his wife Haidy of Amsterdam. One daughter, Isabel Melendez of New Jersey. Five brothers, Francisco, Bruno, Luis, Jose and Alejandro. One sister, Maria. He is also survived by his Brother and Sister in Law, Pablo Olivera and Gloria Torres of Amsterdam. Five Grandchildren, Veronica, Jose, Matthew, Justin and Jasmine. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was pre-deceased by his brother Damian. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday September 17, 2007 at 9:15A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove St., Amsterdam with Father George Restrepo as celebrant. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday September 16, 2007 from 2:00 to 6:00P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
