Obituary of Elizabeth P. D'Angelo

Elizabeth P. ?Liz? D?Angelo, 88, of Amsterdam passed away Wednesday morning, August 29, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital, Amsterdam. She was born in Cobleskill, NY on December 15, 1918, the daughter of the late Dominic and Philomena Crunali Calisant. A resident of Amsterdam since her childhood, Liz was well-known in the hallways and patient rooms at St. Mary?s Hospital for the past 23 years. As a member of the hospital auxiliary her smiling face was well appreciated by the patients as well as the staff at the hospital. Liz brought joy and happiness to everyone at the hospital, and was always dressed for the occasion or holiday. She could be seen in her costume as a clown, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, or whatever the occasion called for. She was also appreciated for her hand-made calendars that she gave so generously to the hospital patients. Liz was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She enjoyed trips with her family and friends to casinos in New York and Connecticut. Elizabeth was married to Joseph D?Angelo in 1941 who died in 1990. Survivors include three children, Larry A. Angelo Mary of Amsterdam, Thomas Angelo Linda of Tempe, AZ and Mary E. Simons Bob of Wells, NY; eleven grandchildren, Michael Angelo, Laurie Garand, Susan Angelo, Amy Angelo, Joey Angelo, Jodi Angelo, Jamie Angelo, Lisa Jablonski, Michael Nabozny, B.J. Simons and Mike Simons; ten great-grandchildren, Alexandra Garand, Julianna Garand, Preston Simons, Keegan Holmes, Aidan Holmes, Zachary Simons, Abby Squires, Tori Squires, Breanna D?Angelo and Alexandra Jablonski; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by all eight of her siblings, Joseph Calisant, Ernest Calisant, Anthony Calisant, Bombina Marzello, Ann Mauro, Pauline Normand, Mary Esposito and Theresa Botello. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:45 to 10:45 am Friday, August 31, 2007 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave; Amsterdam, where a Prayer Service will take place at 10:45 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:15 am at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, with the Father Pascal Iannotti as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary?s Hospital Auxiliary C/O the funeral home office.
