Obituary of James D. Angelo

James D. Angelo, 76, of Vanderveer St, Amsterdam, passed away Wednesday August 1, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam, NY on December 24, 1930 a son of Lawrence and Mary Feeney Angelo. He was a lifelong area resident and attended the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. Mr. Angelo was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving in the 352nd Bombardment Squadron during peacetime from 1950 to 1952. He was employed for many years as a cook and a maintenance person at the former Montgomery County Infirmary now River Ridge Living Center LLC in Amsterdam. James was a member of the John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post #701 in Amsterdam. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith and attended mass at St. Michael?s Church, St. Mary?s and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Churches all in Amsterdam. He is survived by his mother, Mary Angelo of Amsterdam. Two brothers, Thomas F. Angelo and his wife Doris of Rotterdam, NY, Robert J. Angelo and his wife Evelyn of Scotia, NY, One sister, Evelyn Flatters of Amsterdam. Several Nieces, Nephews and cousins also survive. He was pre-deceased by siblings, Joseph Angelo, Gerald Angelo, Larry Angelo, Eileen DiGiralamo, Kathleen Krause and Mary ?Mercedes? Angelo. Funeral services will be held on Monday August 6, 2007 at 10:30A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John St, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday prior to the Mass from 9:30A.M. to 10:30A.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, Manny Corners Rd., or to the St. Mary?s Hospital Foundation.
