Obituary of Dorothy Mae Crounse

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Crounse, age 86 of Gloversville, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 6, 2007. She was born a Christmas baby on December 25, 1920 in Amsterdam, the daughter of the late Burton and Carrie Lusso Wessell. She was a 1939 graduate of Fultonville High School. Employed at General Electric Company during World War II, she also was a waitress at several local eateries in the Fultonville area. She married Robert A. Crounse on August 14, 1948. He died in 1992. Dorothy was an avid golfer, winning many trophies and was a former member of the Kingsboro Golf Club and Holland Meadows Golf Club. She was a member of North Main Streeet United Methodist Church where she attended regularly, and had many dear friends there. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women. She will be remembered for her wit, her unique personality and her willingness to give love to all. She was always sitting quietly in her chair just waiting for the phone to ring or a knock on the door for loved ones or friends to come and visit and share a smile. She was a quiet woman who unselfishly gave of herself. Dorothy is survived by her adopted son, Bryan Crounse of Gloversville and his children Christina and Jaime; her adopted daughter Barbara Fields of Broadalbin; her sister Gertrude Suits of Schenectady; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are her special friends and care-giving family, LouAnn, Ron and Sarah Warren of Gloversville; and her cat Muffins. She was predeceased by her a brother, Burton, and a sister, Violet. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 2 pm Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 2 pm Tuesday with the Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating. Interment will take place at Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Main Street United Methodist Church, 316 N. Main St; Gloversville, NY 12078, where a Celebration of Life Service will also be announced at a future date.
