Obituary of Helen M. Engle

Helen Malena Engle, 82, of Wall St., Amsterdam, passed away peacefully Monday morning May 7, 2007 at the E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam. Born in Fultonville, NY on August 17, 1924 a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Svenson Johnson. She attended the Winnie School in her early childhood and graduated form the former Fultonville High School. She was a member of the class of 1943. Mrs. Engle was a homemaker and worked in various restaurants including the former Carmel?s Diner and last at the former K-Mart Family Restaurant both in Amsterdam. She retired in 1991. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam. She was married to Harry Holt in 1948, he passed away on October 4, 1961. Helen later married Percy Engle, he died in January of 1979. Survivor?s include, one daughter, Dolores Yager and her husband Gene R. Yager Jr. of Amsterdam. One step-son Robert Engle and his wife Jeanette of Amsterdam. One granddaughter, Amy E. Richmond and her husband Mark Richmond of Ft. Johnson, NY. One Grandson, Christopher G. Yager and his wife Cheryl Yager of Glenville, NY. One great-grandson, Trenton G. Richmond of Ft. Johnson. Three step-grandsons, Keith, Kevin and Jeff Engle. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Robert Johnson and two sisters, Ruth Mitchell and Clara Kneeskern. Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 10, 2007 at 10:30A.M. at the United Presbyterian Church, 25 Church St., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Mack McDonald presiding. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday May 9, 2007 from 4:00P.M. -7:00P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
