Obituary of David Edward Shear

Gloversville-David Edward Shear, 55, passed away Friday May 4, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam, as a result of an automobile accident. Born in Gloversville on February 11, 1952, he was the son of Edward and Rose Aquilla Shear. David worked at Lexington as a Community Resident Supervisor. He had been employed there for twenty five years. He was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. David was also a former member of the Historical Society. He enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening and he loved to play Lotto. David will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Survivors include his wife of 17 ½ years, Amanda R. Shear of Gloversville; his daughter, Rachel Scoville Allen and her husband Cola of Gloversville; his mother Rose Shear, also of Gloversville; a sister, Sandy Prew of Johnstown; a nephew, Christopher Prew of Gloversville; a niece, Theresa Weaver and her husband Adam of Sprakers; four grandchildren, Dylan Miller, Isaiah, Ashley and Rachael Allen, all of Gloversville; a great niece, Hailey Weaver of Sprakers; his very close friends, Steve and Debbie McGillis of Gloversville and his beloved cat, Troubles. He was predeceased by his father Edward in 1987. His grandparents also died before him. Visitation will be Sunday May 6 from 2 to 5 PM at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Monday May 7 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church with Reverend Donald Czelusniak, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Amsterdam Dialysis Center, 1810 Riverfront Center, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
