Obituary of Carmel Joseph Merendo

Carmel Joseph Merendo, 64 of Church Street Amsterdam, passed away Friday April 27, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital, with his loving family at his side. Born in Amsterdam on August 4, 1942, he was the son of Joseph and Victoria Kaminski Merendo. Carm graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1961 and served in the United States Navy from 1962-1966 aboard the USS Vogelgesang. He retired from General Electric Company, Schenectady, NY with 38 years of service. Carm married his wife the former Yvonne B. Gomula on November 27, 1966. Besides his wife, survivors include his daughter Suzette Merendo-DuPont and her husband William of Perth, NY his son Michael J J Merendo and his wife Kara and their daughter, Carm?s only precious Granddaughter, Makenzie Mikel Merendo of Amsterdam, NY, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Carm was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time with his granddaughter. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 1, 2007 at 9:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. Ronald Matuleicz officiating. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery with full military honors. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carm?s memory to the: Hunt Of A Lifetime 6297 Buffalo Rd. Harborcreek, PA 16421 This is a charitable organization, which enables terminally ill children the chance to go on their dream hunting or fishing trips
