Obituary of Norrine J. Sievert

Norrine J. Sievert, 76, of Broadway, passed away peacefully Thursday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility with her family at her side. Born in Amsterdam on June 18, 1930, she was the only child of the late Ralph and Lottie Mae Carr Osterhout. A 1948 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, she attended the Amsterdam School Of Commerce. On June 26, 1949, she was united in marriage to Emil W. Sievert who survives. Norrine was employed as a secretary for Mohasco and later in the same capacity, worked for the Cady Company until she retired in 1976. She found time to sing with the choir of the United Methodist Church and also with the Mohawk Valley Chorus. Norrine will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, caring for her husband and for keeping her family at the center of her life. She spent most of her retirement surrounding herself with her family, especially the grandchildren and most recently her two great grandchildren, and was anticipating the arrival of her third, later this year. In addition to her beloved husband Emil, she leaves her daughter Kathleen and her husband Mark Keeler of Amsterdam; granddaughters, Tracy Greg Greenwald, Trisha Cory Ferenz and Lindsey Alex Nieuwkerk; and great grandchildren Jenna Greenwald and Christian Ferenz. She was predeceased by a daughter Patricia Sievert. A Service to celebrate her life will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church, Golf Course Rd. The Rev Greg DeSalvatore officiating. Interment is in the Hagaman Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 5-8 pm Monday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Contributions may be made in her name to the Community Hospice Of Amsterdam or the Wilkinson Activities Department both in care of the funeral home office.
