Obituary of Catherine Bucciferro

Catherine ?Kay? Bucciferro, 76, of Midline Road passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007 at Wilkinson RHCF with her loving family by her side. She was born in Amsterdam on March 23, 1931 daughter of Angelina Constantino Traina and the late Bartolo Traina. Kay was a lifelong resident and attended school in Amsterdam. She married Frank Bucciferro on May 9, 1954 at St. Michael?s Church in Amsterdam. Kay worked for many years in the customer service industry. She had many jobs in the area which included working at JC Penney, Perth Food Center and Town & Country. For a few years in between, Kay owned and operated Catherine?s Dress Shop on East Main Street. Her most recent job was at June?s Hallmark in Amsterdam where she worked with very dear friends. Kay was an outgoing individual who loved working with the public which made her a valuable asset to the customer service industry. Kay was a member and communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, watching the horse races, making the occasional visit to the casino, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Besides her father, Kay was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Vincent Traina. Survivors include her mother, Angelina Traina of Amsterdam, her husband, Frank Bucciferro of Amsterdam, a son, Michael Bucciferro and his wife Felicia of Amsterdam, a daughter, Kathy Szala and her husband Mike of Amsterdam, three grandchildren, Michael A. Bucciferro, Nicole Szala and Dan Szala all of Amsterdam, three brothers, Gerlando Traina and his wife Angelina of Miami, FL, Bartolo Traina and his wife Josephine of Coral Springs, FL, and Felix Traina and his wife Lorretta of Stuart, FL, a brother-in-law, Biagio Bucciferro and his wife Lena of Amsterdam. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:15 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Lawrence Decker as celebrant. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Fort Johnson. Donations in Kay?s memory may be made to St. Michael?s Church, P.O. Box 699, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
