Obituary of Velma N. Peterson

Miss Velma N. Peterson, age 81 of Gloversville, died Friday, March 16, 2007 at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility, following a short illness. She was born on April 18, 1925 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Earl and Florence Moats Peterson. Velma was employed at the former Mario Papa & Sons Glove Shop, and then for many years at Grandoe Glove Company. An avid New York Yankees baseball fan, Velma loved the company of animals, particularly her pet cat Penny. She also enjoyed bowling. Survivors include her brother Richard Peterson whom she cared for her entire lifetime; her nephew Steven Peterson and his wife Mary; her niece Melody A. Denton and her husband Tim; her sister-in-law Katherine Peterson; her grand-nieces Alaina Peterson and Amanda Peterson; and her grand-nephew Timothy H. Denton. She was preceded in death by her brother Earl Peterson. The family will receive relatives and friends from 12 to 1pm Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 1pm with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078.
