Obituary of Wayne A. Jager

Wayne A. Jager, 63, of Mohawk Drive, Fonda, passed away suddenly Tuesday, March 13, 2007. Born on September 23, 1943 he was the son of the late Walter and Mildred Jager. He was a lifelong area resident and was as graduate of Fonda High School. Wayne joined the armed services in April of 1965, and was stationed in Germany. He served with the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1967. He attended Chauffeur?s Training Schools, Inc. in Rensselaer where he learned to drive and operate commercial vehicles. Wayne was a truck driver for many years working for Glen & Mohawk Milk Assn. in Fultonville, NY, until its closing, Sunoco Products in Amsterdam, NY until its closing and later for Riccelli Enterprises, Inc. out of Syracuse, NY, until his retirement in 2001. Wayne loved cars, especially his 1957 Corvette. Being an amateur mechanic, he loved working on cars and trucks, and for many years he spent a lot of his free time working on his prized corvette. He also enjoyed gardening, being a ?master chef,? bird watching and was an avid sports fan. Wayne was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. His loving family includes his wife, the former Dorothy Schmitt-Hanson; who he married on September 13, 1986; two sons, Glen Jager and his wife Wendy of Fonda, and Dean Jager of Tribes Hill; one step-daughter Lisa Wilson, of Enid, Oklahoma; one brother, Ronald Jager of St. Albans, Vermont; five grandchildren, Liam, Aidan, Jordan, Sierra, and Nathaniel; many in-laws, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Janet Jager. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 2p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, with the Rev. Gail Wolling presiding. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday evening from 5 until 8, and from 1 until 2 Saturday, prior to the service. Interment will take place in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Lutheran Church, 40 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to St. Jude?s Children?s Cancer Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
