Obituary of Michael F. Luciano

Mr. Michael F. Luciano Jr., 89, formerly of 15 Arnold Avenue, Amsterdam, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at the Edward L. Wilkinson R.H.C.F. Born on September 30, 1918 in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Michael and Josephine Noto Luciano Sr. He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. In December of 1941 he enlisted in the United States Army. He served until his honorable discharge in September of 1945. Mr. Luciano along with his brother Al owned and operated Luciano Brothers Jewelers for over 38 years. He also enjoyed golfing at the Muni golf course and was a member of ?The Grille Bowling League.? A remembered milestone was on July 9, 1978 when he had a 660 hit. Mr. Luciano was a also member of the Columbian Social Club and was a parishioner of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his only daughter, Lorraine DiMezza- Velez in 2001 and his brother, Alfonso Luciano in January of 2007. His loving family includes, his wife, the former Lena Montarelli, whom he married nearly 60 years ago on April 27, 1947; his sister, Arcelia Meyers of Dade City, Florida; his beloved granddaughter, Lisa DiMezza of Amsterdam; and several, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 19, 2007 at 8:15a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15a.m. at St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Michael?s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday afternoon from 2 until 5 at the funeral home. The Columbian Social Club, is requested to meet at 4:30p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, in care of the funeral home
