Obituary of Robert Ratajczak

Robert Ratajczak, 74, of Woodrow Road, passed away Tuesday afternoon at St. Mary?s Hospital after a long illness. Born December 19, 1932 in Amsterdam, New York, he was the son of the late Stanley and Ceil Winkle Ratajczak. He was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Bob was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was employed as a meat cutter for the A&P Grocery Stores in Johnstown, Gloversville and Amsterdam for 25 years, he then opened the Big Dollar I.G.A. in Johnstown from 1976 to 1979. Later Bob owned and operated the Kingsboro Market in Gloversville until retiring in 1984 due to ill health. Bob was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion in Broadalbin, NY and was a parishioner of St. Joseph?s Roman Catholic Church in Broadalbin. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching all sports, but he especially loved spending time with his family. On September 16, 1989 he married the former Linda Richards. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Steven and James Ratajczak of Amsterdam; a step-daughter Donna Marie Hamilton of Broadalbin; a brother, Stanley Ann Ratajczak of Broadalbin; a sister, Alice Victor Auriemma of Amsterdam; a grandson James Robert Ratajczak; a mother-in-law, Esther Richards of Amsterdam; three sisters-in-laws, Christine Porcello of Amsterdam, Pamela Paul Mecca and Emma Hanson both of Gloversville; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Bob was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and William Ratajczak. Private funeral services and burial with full Military Honors will be held at the convenience of the family at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. Memorial contribution may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborn Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
