Obituary of Evelyn A. Stowitts Moore

Evelyn A. Stowitts Moore, 74, of State Hwy 5S, Fultonville, NY, passed away Tuesday January 30, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam following a long illness. Born in Amsterdam on February 2, 1932, she was a daughter of Phillip S. and Dorothy Stowitts. She was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of Fultonville High School class of 1948. She later was a graduate of the former Amsterdam Business School. Mrs. Moore was employed for over 16 years at Beech Nut Foods Packing Co. in Canajoharie as an Executive Secretary retiring in 1996. She also worked as an Educational Instructor at the Montgomery County Jail. She was a member of the Glen Reformed Church and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was very involved in church youth groups. Evelyn loved being with children. After raising her own children she became a foster mother. She was also a past officer of the area Christian Woman?s Club. She married Harold E. Moore in 1952. In addition to her husband of 55years survivors include two sons, Stephen H. Moore and his wife Sandra of Broadalbin, New York, Brian E. Moore of Fultonville, New York; one daughter, Robin L. Gardener and her husband David of Ithaca, New York; one brother, Phillip H. Stowitts of Madison, Wisconsin and six grandchildren, Travis J., Kelsey S., and Austin P. Moore, Matthew, Mark and Michael Gardener. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services and calling hours are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Maple Ave Cemetery, Fultonville in the spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, NY.
