Obituary of Ada E. Redmond

Ada E. Redmond, 86, of Cranes Hollow Road, passed away on Sunday afternoon at the Mount Loretto Nursing Home in Amsterdam, New York. Born August 13, 1920 in Jay, New York she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Edna Sheldon Pelkey. She attended a one room school house in Jay, New York. Ada was a homemaker, loving grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to baby sit, paint, sew and garden. She was a member of the St. Luke?s Evangelical Lutheran Church. On June 30, 1938, she married Maurice R. Redmond who died in 1991. Survivors include a son, Gary W. Redmond of Naples, Florida; two daughters, Patricia M. Craig and her husband Harold of Galway, New York and Laurie J. Billington and her husband Thomas of Amsterdam, New York; a brother, Eugene Pelkey of Old Town, Maine; a sister, Francis Pulsifer of Keesville, New York; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ada was predeceased by a son, Robert; a daughter, Janet; a brother Samuel; two sisters, Anna and Nina. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. John Califano officiating. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Ada?s memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Int., 913 Old Liverpool Road, Liverpool, New York 13088-5571 or to St. Jude?s Children?s Cancer Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
