Obituary of Stanley Gustowt

Mr. Stanley Gustowt, 89, of Gloversville, passed away Sunday at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home. He was born February 17, 1917 in Binghamton, New York, son of the late John and Rozalija Gustowt. Mr. Gustowt lived in Gloversville from 1951 to 1970 and was employed as a sales representative for C.A. Durr?s Meat Packing Co. in Utica, New York for 25 years. He subsequently located to Binghamton until 1986 where he was employed in the same capacity for Almy Bros. Distributing Co. until retirement in 1986 and he returned to Gloversville. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Gustowt hunted and fished all his life. He especially enjoyed his love of vegetable and floral gardening. Stanley was married June 19, 1948 to Alfreda Szymanski Gustowt who pre-deceased him in 1998. He is survived by his children: Frances Frank Havlick of Gloversville, Theodore Louise Steflik of San Angelo, Texas, Elaine George Schlegel of Gloversville and Stanley J. Mary Ann Gustowt of Gloversville. He is also survived by a sister, Rose Hallock of Washingtonville, New York, eighteen grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Gustowt was pre-deceased by a daughter, MaryAnne Husar in 1984, a grandson, Michael Husar in 1982 and a brother Felix Gustowt in 1971. A prayer service will be held 9:15 am Wednesday from the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville and at 10 am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, New York. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to a charity of choice.
