Obituary of Steven E. Rackowski

Steven E. Rackowski, 78, formerly of St. Hwy 30 South, Town of Florida, passed away Sunday morning, January 28, 2007 at the Edward L. Wilkinson R.H.C.F. following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam, on November 15, 1928 he was the son of the late Piotr and Anela Niemczyk Rackowski. He was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Mr. Rackowski was employed for the Montgomery County D.P.W. as a truck driver for several years until his retirement. Mr. Rackowski was a member of the Beldon?s Community Club for 20 years, and enjoyed farming as a hobby. He will be remembered as a hard worker, and as a loving father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his five brothers, John, Joseph, Chester, Frank and Dr. Edward J. Rackowski His loving family includes his wife, Helena ?Mae? Rackowski, whom he married on November 24, 1957, one daughter, Charmaine H. Keller and her husband Stephan; two sons, Steven M. Rackowski and his wife Mary Beth and Keith A. Rackowski and his wife Sherry, all of the Town of Florida; seven grandchildren, Jason, Kayla, Mariah, Josh, Jeremy, Benjamin, Aaron; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 9a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Stanislaus J. Swierzowski as celebrant. Interment will take place in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery, in Tribes Hill. Relatives are invited and may call from 4 until 7 Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Florida Volunteer Fire Department, St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church or the charity of one?s choice.
