Obituary of Lucille E. Fox

Lucille E. Fox, 86, of Wagner Street, Fort Plain, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Little Falls Hospital, Little Falls, NY. She was born in St. Johnsville February 10, 1920, a daughter of the late George and Violet Brown Lyons. Lucille was a lifelong resident of the St. Johnsville and Fort Plain areas. She was employed with Palatine Dye in St. Johnsville, Beech-Nut in Canajoharie, and Luxray in Fort Plain. Lucille also dedicated herself to her work in home heath care for several years. She was a communicant of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Fort Plain. Lucille married Leslie Fox in Fort Plain on June 10, 1937. He predeceased her on February 14, 1999 following over 60 wonderful years of marriage. Lucille enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved her cat, ?Smokey?, who provided great companionship to her over these past years. Besides her parents and husband, Lucille was predeceased by two sons, Leslie Fox, Jr. in 1937, and Russell Fox in 2005. Four brothers, Joseph, Harry, Moses, and George Lyons, and two sisters, Gladys Whitbeck and Carrie Mae Smith also predecease her. Lucille is survived by a daughter, Marlene Harry Maves of Fort Plain, two sons, Larry Fox of Fort Plain and Paul Fox of East Springfield, a brother, Wilfred Lyons of So. Carolina, a sister, Clara Brown of St. Johnsville, eight grandchildren, Leslie Fox, Michael Fox, Paul Fox, Jr., Deborah Simmons, Lori Coons, Tennille Fox, Jennifer Kneaskern, and Kristy Fox, and seven great-grandchildren, Mandy Simmons, Kevin Simmons, Preston Priddle, Alicia Priddle, Andrew Barber, Marissa Kneaskern and Shaina Fox. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services were at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. The family received relatives and friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be later in the year at Ephratah Cemetery in Ephratah. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Lucille?s memory be made to the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166.
