Obituary of Gurr V. Berry

Gurr V. Berry, 86, of Brown Place, Fort Hunter, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital. He was born May 4, 1920, son of the late Darius and Pearl Teneyck Berry. Gurr attended schools in Fonda, NY. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on a Mine Sweeper. Following his discharge from the Navy, Gurr worked as a Mill Right in the Amsterdam and Fonda area. He married the former Ida Craver on August 30, 1947, she predeceased him in 1984. Gurr and Ida had made their home in Florida in 1976. Following Ida?s death, Gurr decided to move back to the area in 1991, residing in Fort Hunter. He is survived by a son and his fiancé, Edward Berry and Cora Covey of Fort Hunter, close friends, John Blanchard of Fultonville, Frank Blanchard of Fort Hunter, and Mary Bargstedt of Fort Hunter. Several nieces also survive him. At Gurr?s request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A private interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY.
