Obituary of Georgianna Casline

Georgianna Casline, 84, former resident of Ireland Drive, Fort Johnson, passed away Thursday morning at the Montgomery Meadows Residential Health Care Facility where she had been a resident for one year. She was born September 20, 1922, in Amsterdam, New York, the daughter of the late Frederick G. and Pearl Cole Overrocker. Georgianna was a life long resident of Fort Johnson, New York and a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School and the Reynolds Business School in Amsterdam. She was first employed by the Montgomery County Trust Bank which later became Bankers Trust as a Teller for over 20 years. She later worked for over 20 years at the Amsterdam Free Library as a Librarian until retiring in 2004. Georgianna was a member of the First Baptist Church of Amsterdam, Member and Former Treasurer of the Sir William Johnson Seniors of Fort Johnson, Member of the Iroquois Seniors of Tribes Hill, Member of the Perth Seniors and a Member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge of Johnstown. She was a one time member of the Nimble Fingers of Fort Johnson. Georgianna was a pioneering woman?s athlete who skated as the only female member of the Fort Johnson skating team. She was nationally ranked and missed her chance at the Olympics because none was held during World War II. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to socialize. Georgianna was very devoted to all of her activities. She was a renowned baker especially for her pies and Christmas cookies. Georgianna missed her late husband, Louis M. Casline former Mayor of Fort Johnson whom she married August 9, 1947, and died June 25, 2001. Survivors include her loving family; Jeffery Casline and his wife Debra of Fort Johnson; Alan Casline and his wife Jennifer Pearce of Delmar, New York and Jamie Casline of Fort Johnson; Four grandchildren; Chandra Casline of Fort Johnson, Ashley Walton of Tribes Hill, Elizabeth and Thomas Casline of Delmar; two great grandchildren, Tyler Walton and Kamryn Walton of Tribes Hill and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, New York, with the Reverend Frank Galerie officiating. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Georgianna?s memory to the Amsterdam Free Library, 28 Church Street, Amsterdam, New York.
