Obituary of Virginia E. Monaco

Virginia E. Monaco, 75, of Northampton Road, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at her home. Her devoted husband and loving family were at her side. Born in Amsterdam on March 27, 1931, she was a 1949 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She worked for a number of years at the General Electric Company in Schenectady and later began a career as a pharmacy technician for Fays Drugs and later Eckerd Pharmacy until she retired. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, her family was the center of her life. She enjoyed reading and crocheting, and was a wonderful cook. She was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. On Feb. 11, 1972, she was united in marriage to Anthony Monaco. In addition to her beloved husband, she leaves her daughters, Sharon Intilli and Karen Brick both of Warwick, NY, Theresa and her husband Dr. Eric Klausner of Galway, and Mary Monaco of Scottsdale, AZ; her sisters, Maryann Taber and Dolores Sutyla both of Amsterdam; her grandchildren, Gabrielle Brick, Sarah McDermott, Jine, Anthony and Lillian Dufresne and Hannah Klausner; great granddaughter, Gianna King; a dear aunt, Clara Kordyjak of Amsterdam and nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are Saturday at 8:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church with Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant. Interment is in the Gerald B. H. Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Calling hours are Friday evening from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her name to Community Hospice of Amsterdam or the Camp Hole In The Woods, both in care of the funeral home office.
