Obituary of John A. Evens

Mr. John A. Evens, age 49, of Johnstown, went to heaven with the angels on Christmas morning following a courageous battle with heart disease. He was born November 5, 1957 in Gloversville, the son of the late Alverton and Elizabeth Lamphear Evens. He worked at various businesses in Fulton County. John enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, football, wrestling, baseball and softball. His favorite sport teams were the Mets and the Jets. John is survived by four siblings, Donna L. Vosburgh Dennis of Caroga Lake, David J. Evens, Sr. Bernadine of Meco, Daniel A. Evens Karen Jemmott of Sammonsville, and Joseph M. Evens of Johnstown, who was John?s best friend. Although John had no children of his own, he was very proud of his four nephews and five nieces and their children. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm Friday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville. Interment will take place at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown.
