Obituary of Vera M. Shelp

Vera M. Shelp, 90, formerly of Currytown Road, Sprakers, died Thursday afternoon at the Folts Home in Herkimer. Born on November 18, 1916 in Sprakers, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Madia Dopp Klemme. She was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. During WWII she worked for G.E. then for a few years worked for Luxury in Ft. Plain. She then worked for over 40 years for the Oneida Market then the Victory Market in Fonda as a cashier. Mrs. Shelp was predeceased by one brother, Karl Klemme, Sr. and her husband Robert J. Shelp. Her loving family includes two daughters, Kay Conrad and her husband David of Fonda, New York and Deena Engleby of North Carolina; one son Donald Shelp; six grandchildren, Robin Conrad of Fonda, New York, Robert Conrad and his wife Debbie of Richfield Springs, Jason Malagisi and his wife Debbie of Charlotte, North Carolina, Sonya Stepps of North Carolina, Danielle Allen of North Carolina, Mindy Shelp- Malagisi of Palatine Bridge, New York; nine great grandchildren, Kathryn and Matthew Luke Conrad, Nicholas, Isabella and Kristen Malagisi, Brooke and Justin Stepps, Christopher and Nicole Miller; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 11a.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie. Interment will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Alliance Church or the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Corps or to the Alzheimer?s Association of New York in care of the funeral home.
