Obituary of Kathleen C. Gannon

Mrs. Kathleen C. Anderson Gannon, 83, of Gloversville, died Saturday at Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility. She was born October 26, 1923 in Gouverneur, NY, St. Lawrence County. She was the daughter of the late Guy and Mae Payne Dewey. Kathleen was educated in Gouverneur schools and came to Gloversville during WWII. She had worked for some time at the former Battery Factory, where she developed a great pride in providing goods that were supplied to our troops overseas. Kathleen also worked for the former GEM Footwear, Decca Records and Winig Slipper Co. where she was an inspector. A devoted family woman who loved dancing and music, Kathleen always found time for volunteer work as well. As a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary, she enjoyed marching in parades, Poppy sales and various committees. She served as past president and chaplain of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of the Fourth Degree Color Guard. Kathleen was first married to William Anderson who pre-deceased her in 1976. Survivors include her husband, Raymond Gannon of Gloversville; two daughters, Elizabeth Bruce Howland of Mayfield and Kathy Gary Austin also of Mayfield. She is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Phelps of Gouverneur and her grandchildren: Aaron Howland and his companion Tina Olyer, William Pam Austin and Jennifer Austin and her companion Kenny. Nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Gannon was pre-deceased by a sister, Thelma Smith. Funeral services will be conducted 10 am Tuesday from the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street with Reverend Christopher Hamm, Pastor of North Main Street United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 4-7 pm. Burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Mt.
