Obituary of Mildred Majewski

Mildred ?Mickey? Majewski, 69, of Kline Street, passed away Wednesday afternoon at St. Mary?s Hospital after a lengthy illness. Her husband was at her side. Born in Amsterdam on December 3, 1937, she lived here her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Milton and Katherine Norman Nethaway and was a 1956 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She worked for Breton Industries and the former Barlow Manufacturing for a time. Mickey retired in January of 1991 from Amsterdam Printing & Litho. An avid bowler, she was president of the Amsterdam Women?s Bowling Association, a member of the Junior Bowling Association and the treasurer of TOPS. Her later years were devoted to her beloved grandchildren, and the wonderful trips that were shared at Old Orchard Beach. Mickey will always be remembered for her delicious pierogies and babka, and for her traditional Polish Christmas dinner, which the family carries on to this day. On October 13, 1956, she was united in marriage to James J. Majewski. In addition to her husband of fifty years, she leaves her children, Mark Majewski of Amsterdam and Anita and her husband Rick Lewandowski of Ft. Hunter; her brothers, Charles Nethaway of California, Willard Nethaway of Schenectady and Jerry Nethaway of Amsterdam; her sisters, Shirley Emanuele and Lelia Wilczak both of Amsterdam, Jane Marotta and Barbara DiMarco both of Gloversville; grandchildren, Cheyenne and Cody Lewandowski and a grand puppy, Corky, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her brother, Robert Nethaway, predeceased her. A Vigil service will take place on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue with Fr. Stanley J. Swierzowski and Deacon Michael Ryba officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 2 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family at Hagaman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Boy Scouts of America Troop 32, or the Venture Crew # 13 both in care of the funeral home office.
