Obituary of Marion Yarasezski

Marion Bernitt Yarasezski, 90, of State Highway 30 North, passed away early Saturday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital. Born in the Bronx on March 17, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Fannie Lohr Bernitt. She and her husband owned and operated Frank?s Auto Service, a family business for over thirty years in Amsterdam until they retired in 1981. They moved to Florida where they lived for thirteen years, returning to Amsterdam in 1994. Marion served as a Red Cross Grey Lady at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital. She was an avid reader and enjoyed hand sewing beautiful quilts that she lovingly shared with her family. Her husband, Frank E. Yarasezski, brothers, Henry and Walter Bernitt and sister, Mildred Callahan all predeceased her. She is survived by her son, Frank T. and his wife Patricia Yarasezski; daughter, Judith and her husband Robert Montenaro all of Amsterdam; granddaughters, Lori and her husband Bill Stachnik of Amsterdam, Beth Yarasezski of Clifton Park, Susan and her husband Brian Edwards of Ballston Spa, Army SPC Debra Montenaro stationed in Ft. Hood, Texas and Amy and her husband Keith Ackerknecht of Johnstown; her great grandson, Matthew Lucas Stachnik of Amsterdam; a sister, Alma Garvan of Cle Elum, Washington; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to the Legacy Candle Ceremony to honor the life of Marion, on Wednesday, December 27th at 7:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Calling hours will be the same evening from 5-7 pm prior to the ceremony at the funeral home. Marion will be interred with her husband in the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, in Schuylerville, New York. It is the request of the family that flowers be omitted, and contributions may be made to the Hagaman Volunteer Fire department in care of the funeral home office.
