Obituary of Larry R. Washburn

Mr. Larry R. Washburn, 70, of Mayfield, died Wednesday at Westchester Medical Center. He was born in Gloversville on September 25, 1936, son of the late Lewis and Mildred Bacon Washburn. Mr. Washburn was a graduate of Mayfield High School and served in the Army. He was employed by Citizens Communication as a cable splicer for more than 30 years, retiring in 1998. An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially going to Maine for deep-sea fishing. Larry was a membcr of the Royal Mountain Moonlighters ATV club, the Mayfield Lake Association Water Quality Monitoring program and involved with the Mayfield Boy Scouts for many years. Although active in many ways, Larry most enjoyed his home with family and friends. Sunday dinner was always special as he catered to a full house on a regular basis. Larry is survived by his wife, Patricia Smullen Washburn of Mayfield, whom he married June 28, 1974. He is also survived by his children: Kristine Jon Goodemote of Mayfield, Laurie Nicholas De Maria of Mayfield, and Lawrence Donna Washburn of Gloversville. He has two sisters surviving, Nancy Marshall Bates and Linda Miller, both of Mayfield. Additional survivors include his grandchildren: Sara Ann Washburn of Medford, New York, Tony Sweet and Brandy Sweet of Gloversville, Justin De Maria of Mayfield, Walker Goodemote of Mayfield, Nicholas De Maria IV of Mayfield, Britain Goodemote of Mayfield, six great grandchildren nieces, nephews and brother-in-law Richard Joan Smullen of Meco. Funeral services will be conducted 10am Monday from the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4-8 pm. Burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to a charity of one?s choice. The family also respectfully requests that friends consider organ donation signature cards.
