Obituary of Elsie Ritter Ferdico

Mrs. Elsie Ritter Ferdico of Gloversville passed away October 24, 2006 at Nathan Littauer Hospital. She was born October 14, 1919 in Stuttgart, Germany daughter of the late Hugo and Louise Schauffler Ritter. Mrs. Ferdico moved to this country at the age of five. She was a 1937 graduate of Gloversville High School and employed early in her life as credit manager for the former Sears & Roebuck. She had been employed more than 30 years as executive secretary for Morrell Vrooman Engineers. Elsie was a dedicated wife and mother who loved gardening and cooking along with tending to the needs of her family. A devoted animal lover, she especially enjoyed her cats. She had a beautiful operatic voice and sang with the Ensemble Club and Sacred Heart Church Choir. She was also a lifetime member of the Concordia Singing Society and the PTA. An active member of the Gloversville Lions Auxiliary, she also served as treasurer. Survivors include her husband John V. Ferdico of Gloversville whom she married September 12, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by her children: John N. Barbara Ferdico of Bowdoinham, Maine and Ronald Ferdico of Gloversville. One grandson also survives, Michael Ferdico, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins in Germany. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 pm at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of her family.
