Obituary of Marguerite Hazzard Lohmeyer

Marguerite Hazzard Lohmeyer, 86, of Milton Avenue, passed away on Thursday morning at the St. Mary?s hospital after a long illness. Born August 14, 1920 in Duanesburg, New York, she was the daughter of the late Garfield and Margaret Vosburgh Hazzard, Sr. She was a life long area resident and attended schools in Charleston, New York. Marguerite first worked for the Sun Glass Factory, later the Dress Factory, both in Canajoharie and was last employed by Mohawk sports Factory in Amsterdam. She was a member of the Gloversville V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Randall Reformed Church and its ladies group. Marguerite enjoyed sewing, crocheting, canning, bingo, going to the Fonda Fair and, years ago, square dancing. She was married on Ernest F. Lohmeyer on June 30, 1973. Besides her husband, survivors include two sons, Harry M. Hodge of Brooksville, Florida and Donald J. Hodge of Fort Plain, NY; two daughters, Helen M. Burke of Claymont, Delaware and Hazel M. Putnam of Gloversville, NY; two step sons, Leonard Lohmeyer of Pattersonville and Frederick Lohmeyer of Fultonville; a step daughter, Vivian Sweeney of Ephrata, NY; a brother, Everett Hazzard of Flat Creek, NY; a sister, Ellamae Colby of Fonda; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 2 at 11am at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats in Fonda. Calling hours will be on Sunday, October 1 from 2 until 5pm at the funeral home.
