Obituary of Marjorie A. Tauss

Mrs. Marjorie Tauss, age 68 of Gloversville, entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning, September 21, 2006, at her home in Gloversville with her family at her side. She was born April 2, 1938 in Ilion, NY, the daughter of the late Howard M. and Rita M. Urtz Wheelock. Following her graduation from high school, she attended Central City Business Institute in Syracuse. For a short time, she was employed at General Electric Company in Utica. On February 16, 1957, Marjorie was married to Frederick N. Tauss. They moved to Gloversville in 1958 from Chadwicks, NY. An exceptionally devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, along with her husband she also co-owned and operated Johson Ave. Sales, and was a secretary for 21 years at Auto World Sales and Service, Johnstown. She was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Gloversville. Survivors include her husband, Frederick N. Tauss of Gloversville; three children, Edward Tauss Tricia of Niskayuna, Frederick Tauss Jr. of Gloversville and Susan Antonucci Gary of Gloversville; five siblings, Marilyn Mayne Keith of Burlington Flats, Robert Wheelock Peggy of Cedarville, James Wheelock Gail and Gordon Wheelock Carol both of West Winfield and Patricia Young of Ilion; three grandchildren, Michelle Tauss, Ashley Tauss and Ryan Tauss; several nieces, nephews, cousins and one aunt. Marjorie was predeceased by her very close aunt and uncle, Gladys and Harold Maxwell, who were very influential in Marjorie?s upbringing. Her beloved and devoted grandmother, Mary Wheelock, also preceded her in death. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Friday and also on Saturday from 9 to 10 am at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted 10:15 am Saturday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville. The Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at Litchfield Five Corners Cemetery, Litchfield, Herkimer County. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Meco Volunteer Fire Dept., c/o Roy Palmateer, 473 Co. Hwy. 122, Gloversville, NY 12078, or to the charity of your choice.
