Obituary of Dorothy P. Buyce

Mrs. Dorothy Blood Buyce, age 99 of Gloversville, beloved mother, sister and grandmother, died Wednesday morning, September 13, 2006 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. She was born on December 16, 1906 in Gloversville, one of ten children to the late Walter and Letty Young Blood. She was a glove worker, employed at the former Peter Rubin Glove Shop, the Grandoe Corporation, and also sewed gloves at her home. Mrs. Buyce was a member of Bleecker Street Church of Christ, and was a former member of the Ida McGinnis Senior Citizens Club. On June 5, 1926 she was married to Henry Buyce who died August 10, 1950. She is survived by seven children, Florence Kretser Melvin of Fort Plain, Beatrice Passero Vincent of Meco, Winifred Paul Walter of Fayetteville, AR, Celia Smith John of Johnstown, Walter Buyce Lois of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Herbert Buyce and Harvey Buyce of Gloversville; two sisters, Grace Woodcock of Gloversville and Eleanor Smith of St. Johnsville,; 19 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two children, Henry Buyce and Betty Blaney, also by her siblings, Florence Hine, Mildred Blood, Ruth Cook, Doris Klempa, Isabelle Chamberlain, Chester Blood, Lester Blood and Harry Blood; and two grandsons, William Walker and Jeffrey Walker. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Sandra Geer officiating. Interment will take place at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown.
