Obituary of Florence Peg Horak

Mrs. Florence M. ?Peg? Valliere Horak, age 76, of Gloversville, died Tuesday morning, September 12, 2006 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. She was born in Syracuse, NY on March 10, 1930, the daughter of the late Francis and Pauline Ivaniszek Valliere. A 1947 graduate of Gloversville High School, Peg worked as a secretary for the former GTE Telephone Company of Johnstown for over 30 years, where she retired from in 1980. She was a member of Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Gloversville. Committed to the benefit of others, Peg made house calls to the elderly and assisted them with various daily chores. A devoted family member, she helped raise her sister?s children, and was like a second mother to them. She was married to Joseph Horak who died in 1992. Survivors include her sister, Marjorie V. Frasier of Johnstown; 3 nephews, Lyn Frasier, William Frasier and Dale Frasier; a niece, Deborah Lair; a grandniece, Kelly Lair; a grandnephew, Wayne Lair Jr; and several cousins. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm Thursday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a prayer service will be held 10:30 am Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, with the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of Mt.
