Obituary of Frank J. Dempsey

Mr. Frank J. Dempsey, age 78, of Mayfield, died peacefully at his home on Thursday evening, September 7, 2006 with his beloved family at his side. He was born October 11, 1927 in New York City, the son of the late Jeremiah and Mary Broderick Dempsey. A graduate of New Haven Teacher?s College, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. Mr. Dempsey was employed by Sperry Semiconductor of Norwalk, CT; also by M.B. Manufacturing Company of New Haven, CT; and was Vice President of Purchasing at the former Coleco Industries of Connecticut and New York. He was of Catholic faith, and attended Sacred Heart Church. He was a former member of The Eccentric Club, Lions Club and the Republican Club, all of Gloversville. Frank enjoyed extensive traveling with his wife of forty years, the former Phyllis R. Pilkington. Survivors, in addition to his wife include six children, Mark and Paul Dempsey, Francis ?Philip? Dempsey of Mayfield, Beth Dather of Niobrara, Nebraska, Brenda Dicruttalo of Burnt Hills and Bridget Morse of Amsterdam; a brother, Daniel Dempsey of New Haven, CT; a sister, Rosemary Maynard of Gainesville, FL; ten grandchildren, Allyson, Alicia, Curtis, Joseph and Rachel Dather, Alden and Aerin Dicruttalo, Mackenzie, Evan and Sean Morse; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and John Dempsey, and a granddaughter, Ashley Dather. The family will receive relatives and friends from 12:00 to 2:00 pm Saturday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville. A private prayer service will take place at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
