Obituary of Beulah Thompson

Beulah Thompson, 100, of Gloversville, died Tuesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home. She was born November 9, 1905 in Quitman County, Georgia, daughter of the late Henry and Fannie Williams Caldwell. She moved to Gloversville in 1919 with her mother and step-father Morris Mandeville. Beulah completed her education in Gloversville and was employed as a glove maker and as a domestic. She was a long time devoted member of the Peoples AME Zion Church in Gloversville and earned the title of ?Mother of the Church?. She served in many organizations and boards of the church including; the Steward Board, Trustee Board, Women?s Home and Overseas Mission and Contingent Fund Club. Mrs. Thompson was a long time member of the Sacandaga Elks Lodge, Fannie Rose Temple # 1198. She served as State President, treasurer, grand daughter ruler and held many other positions as well. Earlier in life Beulah looked forward to the Saratoga Thoroughbred Racing Season which she enjoyed so much. She is survived by her sister; Ozella Hasbrouck of Gloversville, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her husband Cornelius Thompson whom she married July 13, 1946, a daughter Louise Wright, step-daughter Delores Thompson Hicks, step-son Donald Thompson, a brother Eugene Mandeville and a grandson Carl Mandeville. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Friday at the Peoples AME Zion Church in Gloversville with Reverend Ruby Smith, Pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday 4-6 pm at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street. Burial
