Obituary of Rodney H. Smith

Mr. Rodney H. Smith, 53 of Gloversville, died unexpectedly on Monday. He was born May 12, 1953 in Gloversville, son of the late James A. and Mabel Wilson Smith. He was educated in Wheelerville School and employed as a truck driver for Bleyl Lumber for some years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and four wheeling. He is survived by his companion; Appearingdae Ryder of Gloversville, his children: Rodney H. Smith Jr. of Johnstown, Rebecca Nellis and Jake Kennedy of Gloversville, and Annajean Baker of Caroga Lake. He is also survived by his sisters: Janice Dave Ryder of Amsterdam, Patricia Smith of Mayfield, and Debbie Bill Perham of Mayfield; and his surviving brothers: Charles W. Darlene Smith of Mayfield, James Smith and companion Esther of Broadalbin, Kenneth Smith of Gloversville, Dennis Smith of Florida, Duane Smith and companion Edwina of Gloversville Jeffrey Smith Bonnie of Mayfield. Three grandchildren survive as well as nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a sister; Donna Smith. A Memorial service will be held 2 pm Friday at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street Gloversville. The family will receive friends on Friday 1-2 pm prior to the service.
