Obituary of Concetta F. Messineo

Concetta F. Messineo 91, formerly of Princeton Street, passed away Friday morning at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility. She had resided at the Hillcrest Springs Adult Home for the past two years. Born in Amsterdam on October 10, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Carolina Cheritano Greco. She lived here her entire life and was educated locally. A glove maker, Connie retired from the Amsterdam Glove Company. She was a devout member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, and was a member of its Rosary Altar Society, the Santa Sofia Society and St. Michael?s Seniors. Her faith and family were very important in her life, and she lovingly cared for her home and was an excellent cook. Connie also loved to bowl and play bocce, and like her husband, was an avid Yankees fan. On September 25, 1937, she was united in marriage to Vito E. Messineo. He predeceased her on December 20, 2005. Her loving family includes her sons, Michael and his wife Joan Messineo of Whitesboro, Anthony and his wife Agnes Messineo of Lakewood, California and Patrick and his wife Patricia Messineo of Amsterdam; two brothers, V. Peter and Frank Greco of Amsterdam; a sister, Theresa Joseph Marnell of Amsterdam; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, sisters in law and brothers in law and cousins. Connie was predeceased by brothers, Daniel and Vito Greco, and sisters, Sophie Surento, Frances and Angelina Greco. Funeral services are Tuesday morning at 10:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church with Fr. Pascal Iannotti, celebrant. Interment is in St. Michael?s Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday morning from 8:30 am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the St. Michael?s Memorial Fund, St. Mary?s Hospital Foundation or St. Mary?s Institute, all in care of the funeral home, Amsterdam 12010.
