Obituary of Mary C. Karp

Mary C. Karp, 88, of Crouse Street, Amsterdam died August 21, 2006 at Hospice House in Gloversville. Born in West Rutland, Vermont she was the daughter of the late John and Antoinette Selva. She was educated in Vermont, before moving to the area in the late 1930?s. Mrs. Karp was employed as a seamstress in the Amsterdam area for many years. For the past 25 years she has worked with her son ?Wally? at his business, Driftwood Park in Mayfield, where she was known as ?Ma Karp.? Mrs. Karp was predeceased by her husband, William B. Karp in 1966. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Stella Bronza and Jane Raymond; and one brother Joseph Selva. Her loving family includes, two sons, Ronald J. Karp of Albany, NY, and Walter ?Wally? Karp of Gloversville, NY; two sisters, Helen Potowniak of Bristol, CT, and Louise Zygo of Rutland, Vermont; one granddaughter, Shana Flint; two great grandchildren, Bailey and Brennan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 4 until 5. Following the funeral everyone is invited to a reception that will be held at the Post 701, West Main Street, Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
