Obituary of Florence Putman Brothers

Mrs. Florence Putman Brothers, age 94, of Gloversville, died Sunday, August 20, 2006 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville. She was born August 16, 1912 in the Town of Mayfield, the daughter of the late Morton and Etha Putman. A graduate of Gloversville High School, Florence later worked at several department stores in Gloversville, including McClellan?s, J.J. Newberry and F.W. Woolworth. Mrs. Brothers was a member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, snowmobiling, camping and gardening. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was married on December 13, 1933 to Donald A. Brothers who died December 14, 1996 following 63 years of marriage. She is survived by three children, Beverly J. Mackey Richard of Gloversville, Donald E. Brothers Florence A. of Scotia and Ronald M. Brothers Cheryl of Gloversville; four grandchildren, Michael Mackey, Sandra Price, Scott Brothers and Rebecca Brothers; four great-grandchildren, Dustin Atty, Derek Atty, Nicole Mackey and Taylor Price; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Robert C. Brothers; two grandchildren, Kimberly Calhoun and Craig Mackey; a sister, Evelyn Howe; and three brothers, Wesley, Harold and Earl Putman. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday with the Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
