Obituary of Rachel Farina

Rachel Farina, 84, of County Highway 107, Perth, passed away peacefully Thursday evening at St. Mary?s Hospital with her loving family at her side. Born in Amsterdam on May 14, 1922, she was one of ten children born to Vincenzo and Clara Feori Farina, she lived here her entire life and was educated in Amsterdam schools. A homemaker, Rachel was employed for many years by the former Mohawk Dress Shop, later the Amsterdam Apparel Shop, until she retired in September of 1988. She enjoyed her retirement by playing bingo and cards with her sister Josie and dear friends at the Community Seniors. Her greatest passion was her grandchildren, whom she adored. Rachel was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Church, and more recently of St. Stephen?s Roman Catholic Church. She leaves behind her children, son, Ronald and daughter in law Eileen Tambasco with whom she resided in Perth; grandchildren, Michael, Jessica and Ryan Tambasco of Perth; brother, Vincent Emily Farina of Schenectady; sisters, Mary Josephine Marotta of Hagaman, Yolanda Arthur Kameka of Tribes Hill and Adeline Somers of Hagaman; brother in law, Joseph Bennice of Schenectady; sister in law, Ann Farina of Amsterdam and nieces and nephews. Rachel was predeceased by an infant son, Frank Tambasco, brothers, Francisco, John, Antonio and Carlo Farina and a sister, Susan Bennice. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 am at St. Stephen?s Church, Hagaman. Fr. Ronald Matulewicz, celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Michael?s Cemetery. Calling hours are private at the family?s convenience at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made to St. Stephen?s Church, 46 Pawling Street, Hagaman, 12086, or to St. Michael?s Memorial Fund, PO Box 699, Amsterdam. Rachel?s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff, doctors and nurses of St. Mary?s ICU, and to the clergy who lovingly ministered to her.
