Obituary of Catherine F. Magila

Catherine F. Magila, 94, formerly of Mathias Avenue, Amsterdam passed away Wednesday morning at Dutch Manor Nursing Home in Schenectady. Born on September 15, 1911 in Amsterdam, NY she was the daughter of the late Charles and Frances Kilinskas Rabaciauskas. She was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. Mrs. Magila was employed by Wards Products in Amsterdam for many years. She was a homemaker and a dedicated mother and wife. Mrs. Magila was also communicant of St. Casmir?s Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Magila was predeceased by her husband, Leonard ?Lubby? Magila who died in October of 1985. Her loving family includes her son, Timothy L. Magila and his wife Barbara of Rotterdam and one grandchild, Marlene K. Magila of Los Angeles, California. A legacy candle ceremony will take place on Friday at 10a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. at St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church, 260 East Main Street, Amsterdam with the Rev. Stanley Swierzowski as celebrant. Private interment will take place in St. Casimir?s cemetery. A calling hour will precede the ceremony from 9 until 10 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Casimir?s Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
