Obituary of Shirley Friedman

Mrs. Shirley Friedman, 98 of Gloversville, died Wednesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home. Mrs. Friedman was born in Gloversville on June 14, 1908, daughter of the late Benjamin and Ida Kaplan. She was educated in Gloversville schools and a home maker for many years. After raising her family, she owned an upscale woman?s sports clothing store in Brooklyn for many years, importing goods from France and Italy. Although living in Brooklyn, she loved the summers spent with family and friends in Sacandaga Park and moved back to Gloversville in the 1980 s. Shirley was a well known chocolate lover, especially with her extended family at the extended care facility. Shirley was married to Lawrence Friedman who pre-deceased her in the 1960s she was also pre-deceased by her son Maurice Friedman, a brother David Kaplan and a sister Frances Lastfogel. Survivors include her grandson Lawrence Friedman of Minneapolis Minnesota a great grand daughter and a niece; Joyce Colmar. A funeral service will be conducted 3 pm Friday from the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home 51 Fremont Street with Reverend Bonnie Orth officiating. Burial will be in Knesseth Israel Cemetery, Gloversville.
