Obituary of Walter Michael Pine

Walter Michael Pine, 75, of Cranes Hollow Rd., passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 18, 2006 at his home. Born in Schenectady, New York on March 4, 1931 a son of Michael and Lydia Newsham Pidluznyj. He came to Amsterdam at 10 years old. He attended Amsterdam Schools and was a 1949 Graduate of Amsterdam High School. During High School he was Wrestler for the Amsterdam Wrestling Team. He went on to receive his Associates Degree in Agronomy from SUNY Cobleskill College. During College he ran Cross Country for the College Team. He later attended Cornell University for a short time. Mr. Pine had a lifelong love of Farming. He began farming as a young boy and continued up until his passing. He was a Family Farmer for over 55 years, who owned and operated Pines Farms both in Cranesville, New York. & Auriesville, New York. He and his family won many awards for their innovations in farming and for their crop growing and won awards for having the highest yielding crops. He was on the Agway Committee Board for many years. He also attended St. Ann?s Episcopal Church in Amsterdam. He married Magreda K. Hansen Pine on March 17, 1953. In addition to his wife, survivors include children, Linda Pine-Mcgugins and her husband Michael of Fonda, New York, Scott W. Pine and his Fiancé Dawn Gregory of Amsterdam, Patricia Marie and her husband Mark of Scotia, New York, & Michael W. Pine and his wife Kerrie of Amsterdam. One sister, Dorothy Pinney of Clearwater, Florida. Seven grandchildren, Melissa Pine, Michael Mcgugins, Cody Pine, Austin Pine, Chad, Makayla and Dillon Pine. Mr. Pine was preceded in death by a son Mills W. Pine in 1971. The Office for the Burial of the Dead will be read and Holy Eucharist celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A. Smith at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 23, 2006 at St. Ann?s Episcopal Church, Division St, Amsterdam. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam with full military honors. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 22, 2006 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, New York. Memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County S.P.C.A., Amsterdam, New York.
